[Crypto] Bitcoin Pizza Day, the Most Expensive Pizza

Bitcoin Pizza Day, the Most Expensive Pizza

On May 22, 2010, a man in Florida first bought a pizza with a certain amount of bitcoin.

There was nothing special at the time. The price of 2 pizzas at that time cost 10,000 Bitcoin. Which if calculated now is for $71 Million USD. May 22nd is celebrated as Pizza Bitcoin Day.

The blockchain programmer at that time was named Laszlo Hanyecz who wanted to try to make Bitcoin transactions on the Bitcoin Talk Forum. Pizza was priced at $40 USD.

Here is a conversation from the BitcoinTalk Forum:

"I'm going to pay 2 big pizzas for 10,000 Bitcoins. You can bring the pizza to my house or you can order it for me from the delivery place. I want the pizza to be paid for with Bitcoin.

Without me having to order and prepare it, it's like ordering food at a hotel.

I want toppings of onions, peppers, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes, papperoni plus the usual cheese.

If anyone is interested, please contact me and we'll make a deal. Thank you."

A BitcoinTalk member called "Jercos" has accepted Hanyecz's deal. Hanyecz sent Bitcoin to Jercos to order pizza from him. About 9 months the price of Bitcoin became $10,000.

After a decade of Bitcoin, some crypto communities and industry players say crypto can become the first stream of payments. The companies that enforce bitcoin as a transaction are Burger King, Microsoft, AT&T, PayPal, Amazon and many more.

The existence of crypto asset stablecoins pegged to value makes the problem of crypto volatility can be overcome. Stablecoin functions as a peer-to-peer payment medium that is faster and cheaper than other media (PayPal / wepay).
